Ben Amos has returned to Manchester United following his loan spell in the second tier with Bolton Wanderers.
The 24-year-old joined Neil Lennon’s side earlier in the season on a short-term loan, and played every minute of Bolton’s five matches in March, with both Adam Bogdan and Andrew Lonergan facing spells on the sidelines due to injuries.
He also claimed the club’s Player of the Month award after conceding just four goals – while keeping a clean sheet against Millwall.
“[I] really enjoyed my time there, it’s a club ready to kick on now and challenge in the years to come,” Amos commented on Twitter following his return. “Thanks to the fans and everyone who made my time at the club so enjoyable. Much appreciated!”
Amos was initially expected to return to the Theatre of Dreams in February, but the dynamic performances and dominant displays convinced Lennon to extend his stay at the Macron Stadium.
However, he is now highly unlikely to gain a first team appearance for Louis van Gaal’s side, with David De Gea, Victor Valdes and Anders Lindegaard all ahead in the pecking order. And as a result, Lennon has hinted he may opt for a permanent signing in the summer.
Amos made nine appearances in total for Bolton Wanderers, and has only ever made two first-team appearances for the Red Devils.
