Manchester United could employ Jackson Martinez in the summer, in an attempt to end the attacking woes suffered across the last 12 months.
The likes of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao haven’t lived up to expectations this season, and captain Wayne Rooney has been called upon considerably after being promoted as a lone strike.
As a result, the FC Porto frontman is suggested to be an option for Louis van Gaal, should Falcao return to AS Monaco following the completion of his loan spell, with van Persie is repeatedly linked to a transfer to Serie A.
The £40 million star – who netted the final goal in a recent 3-1 rout of Bayern Munich in the Champions League – has also been suggested to be departing from Portugal’s top tier for some time, as reported by the Daily Star.
However, Porto are expected to only allow the departure of Martinez should they be able to resign Falcao, who was influential in the club’s former European glories. The Colombian has currently scored four times in 21 appearances, while his Dutch manager is believed to be looking for replacements with the transfer window on the horizon.
Martinez previously said: “I have made it clear that my departure to a new club will surely happen next summer.”
The 28-year-old has scored 17 goals in 24 league appearances, while adding 6 goals in as many European starts.
