AC Milan midfielder Nigel De Jong has confirmed a potential transfer to Manchester United would interest the Dutchman, according to reports from the Metro.
De Jong has been linked with a switch to join his fellow countryman ever since Louis van Gaal took over the Red Devils following a successful 2014 World Cup campaign with the Netherlands national team.
However, the holding midfielder has now spoken out over the possibility of a move to the Theatre of Dreams in the summer, despite featuring for local rivals Manchester City over 100 times between 2009 and 2012.
Should the 30-year-old depart from the San Siro in the upcoming transfer window, De Jong is believed to have United as his number one choice – having developed a special relationship with current boss van Gaal.
The news follows a number of rumours linking a variety of players to Old Trafford, as van Gaal is suggested to be preparing a £150 million spending spree, as his side prepare for European football once again.
De Jong is tipped to be able to join Manchester United on a free transfer, which an estimated £80,000 a week wages expected by the former Ajax youth product.
He currently boasts a Premier League, FA Cup and Community Shield title to his name.
