Where should Lindegaard go in the summer?

Anders Lindegaard has moved even further down the pecking order at Manchester United since the arrival of Victor Valdes, and this summer seems prime time for the 31-year-old to complete his move away from the club.

Free now to leave his current top flight team, the shot-stopper will surely not be short of options as I can see him fitting into a Swansea-esque side who sit firmly within the top ten. A group similar to Gary Monk’s men could further exceed expectations with a good pair of hands behind them. This, the Red Devils’ number 13 can provide on the condition that the Welsh outfit can offer up the opportunities as no doubt our forgotten man will now be pining only to be recalled to the gloves.

However, the Dane may wish to move a little closer to home and escape his numbered and dismal days. In particular, a return to his native Scandinavia looks likely with our existing links to Molde strong. Most notably, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer arrived at Old Trafford via this route – the least we can do is return the favour with some stability at the other end of the pitch!

Specifically, Molde FK could be the ‘keeper’s next destination. A swap deal looked to be on the cards during the festive period as the Norwegian squad were willing to exchange Orjan Nyland for the man in question with the latter clearly of great importance to his employers subsequent to the signing of a fresh five-year contract only last season.

One thing’s for sure, both parties would be better off for a similar proposal; our third (or even fourth) choice in Lindegaard would finally be allocated the jersey and regardless of whether simply stunning De Gea remains with us for the 2015/16 campaign, himself and Valdes the January signing will be healthily challenged for the role between the sticks.

With chances to showboat his skills now under van Gaal, Lindegaard would be a gamble due to his lack of first team action – yet to feature under our current gaffer – but one that would most definitely prove worth it for one European outfit expressing rumoured interest.
