Who should replace Radamel Falcao now?

With Radamel Falcao’s underwhelming loan spell at the club coming to an end soon, it is about time the club began exploring different possibilities in the transfer market. I think we could bring in any of these following five players and they will provide a much better goal tally than what Falcao has this season.

Alexander Lacazette, the name on every FIFA player’s lips. Lacazette is currently top goal scorer in the Ligue 1 and has spearheaded Lyon to a superb season, which has seen them climb above PSG, although only on goal difference. Lacazette provides a lot of qualities that our current strikers don’t, he is quick and you’d bank on him scoring if given half a chance. However, all of this has to come at a price and it’s unlikely to be cheap if you want to obtain his services. The pacey frontman could cost upwards of £40 million.

Bas Dost, the 25-year-old Dutchman who currently plays his trade for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga, is currently sat on 13 goals. While as a striker this may seem quite poor, he has a had a few injuries this season and missed a lot of game time. He scores a goal every 63 minutes which is an outstanding stat, also he wouldn’t be too expensive. Dost would be likely to cost our club around £5-7 million, which is cheap considering the current value in the market.

Antoine Griezmann, the young Frenchmen recently transferred form Real Sociedad to Atletico Madrid for £21.5 million. With that transfer he carried on scoring, and for Atletico he has scored 20 goals in 31 games. The exceptional advantage regarding Griezmann, is he can play anywhere across the front three. However, again he won’t come cheap, and could cost £40 million – which could be spent very well elsewhere.

Danny Ings, the young English Burnley striker will be a free agent in the summer following his comments saying that he won’t sign a new contract. Danny Ings has scored nine goals this season, which isn’t really mind blowing – but given the fact that he’s playing in a team that have no other choice but to park the bus he has done well. I don’t think he’d mind being a regular substitute and letting Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie start, then making an impact off the bench.

With Javier Hernandez, why bring in someone when we have a ready-made replacement? In my opinion, no manager has treated him well since he came to the club. The Mexican has always had the tag of super substitute hanging over him, but his stats don’t lie. When he was playing for us he scored 37 goals in 49 league appearances which is a phenomenal achievement.

There were many other players I could have included but these would be my top 5 picks. We are unaware of whether Louis van Gaal will take the gamble on Falcao following the Monaco’s president’s comments, and only time will tell exactly what his plans are.
