Carlos Bacca’s release clause a possibility

Carlos Bacca has become the latest name linked with a switch to Old Trafford, as reports in Spain suggesting Manchester United are considering the possibility of activating his release clause.

The 28-year-old Sevilla striker has lit up La Liga this term, and netting 22 goals in all competitions have been an influential figure in his side’s set-up throughout the season. The futures of Radamel Falcao, Robin van Persie and Javier Hernandez are all under scrutiny at the Theatre of Dreams, and the Red Devils are likely to be linked with a number of attacking options over the summer.

Former target Edinson Cavani has since pledged his future to Paris Saint-Germain, meaning Louis van Gaal will have to look elsewhere to find his newest prolific goalscorers. The Colombian is believed to carry a release clause in the region of £21.3 million, which could prove a steal should he continue his blistering form into the Premier League.

Jackson Martinez has also been linked to the Reds in recent weeks, but could cost up to twice as much as Bacca, who featured at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Carlos Bacca joined Sevilla from Club Brugge for £5 million back in 2013.
