In a programme entitled ‘El Partido’ (The Match), the details of a contract were not discussed, although his future could well remain in Barcelona to ensure his children remained in the capital of Catalonia.

Former partner and current agent, Dinorah Santa Ana, previously stated in a press conference that the defender had almost guaranteed a move away, although the first-team regular could change his made. Enrique is also noted to favour the defender, who has made 38 appearances in all competitions this season.

Furthermore, a replacement for Alves would not be secured under the winter, with a transfer ban from FIFA blocking all moves this summer. As a result, a short term contract could be offered to the defender until the ban expires.
