Manchester United have unveiled the schedule for their upcoming pre-season tour of the United States, which included outings against Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
Tour 2015, presented by Aon, sees the Red Devils hope to retain their International Champions Cup, after victories against the likes of Liverpool and Real Madrid last season.
Louis van Gaal’s side will commence their tour at Seattle’s CenturyLink Field on Friday 17 July, taking on Mexico City outfit Club America.
Four days later, United will play MLS side San Jose Earthquakes on Tuesday 21 July. The venue for the fixture will be confirmed in the coming weeks – after United legend George Best notably represented the club during the 1980s.
Next up will be a colossal clash with Barcelona, featuring at Santa Clara’s Levi’s Stadium – which opened in July 2014 – on Saturday 25 July.
The trip will then conclude on Wednesday 29 July at Chicago’s Soldier Field, in a meeting with Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.
Richard Arnold, the club’s managing director, commented on the announcements, saying: “Manchester United has a great history of visiting these US cities, creating memorable experiences for players and fans that date back as far as the 1950s.
“Tour 2015, presented by Aon, will allow the team to train at some of the best facilities in the world and play in front of thousands of passionate US supporters at first-class stadiums.
“After this month’s Manchester derby broke records to become the most-watched Premier League match in US cable television history, the club is excited to be returning to the United States at a time when the appetite for football is greater than ever.”
The International Champions Cup will feature a league format. Every team will play four matches, and the club with the most points come the end of the tournament will be crowned champions.
