Javier Hernandez could extend stay at Real Madrid

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has hinted that on-loan striker Javier Hernandez could extend his spell with the Spanish giants after recent form.

The Mexcian previously look destined to return to Old Trafford immediately after a lacklustre opening to his La Liga career, but the 26-year-old has impressed with fellow forward Karim Benzema facing a spell on the sidelines through injury.

Hernandez has since become a regular in Ancelotti’s starting eleven, and may return to the Bernabeu for another season – a move which looks best for both the player and respective clubs. Louis van Gaal appears unlikely to include Hernandez in his squad for the coming season, and he could face a struggle to earn game time with the Red Devils.

Speaking ahead of their league clash with Almeria, Ancelotti suggested ‘Chicharito’ may have a future with Los Galacticos. “It is a subject that we will evaluate at the end of the season,” he said. “What I can say is that I have liked his professionalism during the whole year.

“He is enjoying his opportunity a lot, he has a high level of professionalism and for a coach to have these type of players that are always ready is very positive.”

Javier Hernandez has made 25 appearances in all competitions this season, 18 of those from the bench.
