Andreas Pereira has been named as Manchester United’s Under-21 Player of the Year, after a breakthrough season for the Brazilian.
The 19-year-old enjoyed making his first-team debut under Louis van Gaal earlier in the season, and has since gone on to sign a long-term contract at the club, before going on to the win the Barclays Under-21 Premier League title.
Pereira saw off competition from team-mates Donald Love and Liam Grimshaw, who were initially nominated for the award by coach Warren Joyce, who is enjoying his third league title in just four seasons at the Theatre of Dreams.
The midfielder was unable to collect his award due to being on international duty with the Brazilian Under-20 squad, but Pereira is tipped for a successful career, just two years after Adnan Januzaj claimed the award and went on to become a regular in the first-team under the guidance of David Moyes.
However, a message was shown by Pereira while away, thanking supporters for voting him to win the Denzil Haroun trophy.
“I want to thank first of all the fans who voted for me. I want to thank all the coaches and the staff who helped me and I want to thank Warren [Joyce] and all the reserve team because they were very important for me to win this trophy.
“I congratulate them as well on winning the Under-21s league. I’m very honoured to win this trophy and hopefully I can do well next season. Thank you.”
Andreas Pereira made his first-team debut against Milton Keynes Dons in the Capital One Cup.
