Javier Hernandez could return to Old Trafford this week after Real Madrid reportedly decided not to take up the option to permanently sign the Mexican striker.
‘Little Pea’ joined Real Madrid on a season-long-loan back in September but has failed to make an impact whilst at the Bernabeu. Hernandez made 33 appearances for Madrid, but only managed to hit the back of the net 9 times. Nonetheless, his most important goal came in the 88th minute of the Champions League quarter-final to knock out neighbours Atletico Madrid, and guided his team to the next round.
The Red Devils signed Hernandez back in 2010 from Guadalajara for an undisclosed fee. In the past five years, he has played 154 times for United, scoring 59 times. Hernandez fell out of favour at Old Trafford due to the loan signing of Radamel Falcao. However, with the Colombian been sent back to Monaco, a return for Chicharito could mean first team football.
It is unsure what might happen to the Mexican during the summer. Southampton have previously expressed their interest in the striker and could pave way with Clyne coming the other way.
