Paul Pogba will play in his first Champions League Final this Saturday as he and other ex-red devils, Patrice Evra and Carlos Tevez will represent The Old Lady when they face FC Barcelona in Berlin.
The 22 year-old midfielder has mentioned how pleased his move from England to Italy has turned out, after leaving Manchester United back in the summer of 2012.
“Yes, for sure I am happy with how my time has gone in Turin. I don’t regret it at all. I am very happy here and I enjoy it. I am in a Champions League final with Juventus, not Manchester, so things have worked out very well for me.”
During Pogba’s last year at United, he only played seven times, all of them being substitute appearances. The Frenchman then let his contract run out with the club after rejecting an extension, and joined Juventus on a free transfer. During his first season in Serie A, he saw a significant increase in first team action as he played 37 games, scoring 5 goals in all competitions.
Since he instantly broke into Juventus’ first team, he has won three Serie A titles in as many seasons, and would achieve the treble with a win at the weekend, after also securing the Coppa Italia this year.
When questioned over the possibility that the Champions League final could be his last game for Juventus, he replied saying, “Let people think what they want to think. This is a final, it is a huge final for me, and I am just focused on that.”
The former Golden Boy award winner has been linked with numerous clubs, including the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, opponents Barcelona and there’s even been a rumoured return to Old Trafford.
Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola said that his client will only leave Juventus for “the absolute top” back in January earlier this year. He went on to say that, “If it does not happen [a potential transfer] this year, it will be next year”.
