The upcoming transfer window is shaping up to be one of the most active there has been in many years. Due to the high demand for success at clubs now and the money being generated in the sport, the top clubs all across Europe are going to be adding to their squads as well as letting some key figures go.
Looking to build on last year’s top four finish, Manchester United will try and launch a bid to recapture the Premier League title. Many United fans will be very eager to see where Javier Hernandez is plying his trade next season, as it is fair to say that Chicharito’s future at Manchester United is unclear after a frustrating loan season at Real Madrid.
His time at the Bernabeau was very similar to his last full season with United, as he spent a lot of time watching from the bench and finding starting roles hard to come by. However he still proved his goal scoring prowess, when giving the chance as his goals to minutes on the pitch ratio was excellent at one for every 122 minutes on the pitch.
This was second only to Cristiano Ronaldo at Madrid, and consider Luis Suarez had one for every 136 minutes at Barcelona. He has always been a big game player and demonstrated that once again in the Champions League quarter final against local rivals Atletico, by netting the winning goal late on to send Real through to the semi-finals. Surely Louis van Gaal will be taking this into close consideration over the summer.
As well as his form for Madrid, van Gaal should also realise that he is only 27-years-old and coming into the prime of his career. The Little Pea quickly became a firm fan’s favourite when he first arrived at Old Trafford in the summer of 2010. As stated earlier, the Mexican has a track record for scoring goals in big games, more than once he netted at Stamford Bridge and Anfield, scored decisive goals in second leg Champions League games and critical goals in the Premier League run in for the title.
His work rate and enthusiasm for the game is infectious with the supporters and considering that Radamel Falcao has left and Robin van Persie admitting he is unsure of his own future, then there has to be a spot for Chicharito in the Old Trafford dressing room.
All of this however falls on van Gaal and who he plans to bring in. United are rumoured to be in search of many different strikers across Europe including Christian Benteke, and potentially Thomas Muller. If the Dutchman did add two new strikers then it would be evident that Hernandez’s days at United would be over, but personally speaking, I feel he still offers so much to our striking options and would very much like to see Hernandez celebrating in front of the Stretford End again next season. Over to you Louis.
