Bayern Munich defender Dante has distanced himself from a potential move to Manchester United this summer, by saying “I see my future with FC Bayern”.
The Brazilian international has been one of many rumoured targets for United as they look to add a central defender to their ranks ahead of the 2015/16 season.
And after a relatively difficult season for him in Germany, where he struggled to hold down a regular spot in the team, Dante has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford. But in an interview with Bundesliga.com, he appears to have quashed all talk of moving to United.
The 31-year-old is under contract until June 2017 and spoke of his enjoyment in Munich and desire to continue playing for FC Bayern. “I’ve been playing here for three years now and I know every single day how fortunate I am to be able to play for such a big club”, he said.
“I’ve been in at least the semi-final of the Champions League and the DFB Cup in each of these three years, and won the Bundesliga each time. It can hardly get any better than that. I’ll always give everything to this club”.
With Dante clearly wishing to remain at FC Bayern, United will now have to look elsewhere for defensive reinforcements.
