The Sergio Ramos transfer saga could yet take another huge twist with Manchester City looking to rival United for his signature, reports Darren Lewis of the Mirror.
United have already begun negotiations with Real Madrid over the transfer of Ramos but have had their opening two bids rejected by the Spanish giants.
The Spanish international defender is reportedly open to leaving Madrid, having fallen out with club president Florentino Perez during contract negotiations, and Manchester United have made him their top defensive transfer target.
Now it has emerged that United’s local rivals are monitoring the situation ahead of making a potential offer. City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has already confirmed that the club will target “high-quality players” this summer, as they look to challenge Chelsea next season, and Ramos certainly fits the bill.
According to reports, Real Madrid are demanding an astonishing £64 million for Ramos’ services and their dispute with United over the transfer of David De Gea could open the door for Manchester City.
The biggest transfer saga of the summer just got even more interesting.
