The latest on Morgan Schneiderlin

The rumours of Manchester United signing midfield target Morgan Schneiderlin have hotted up in the past few weeks, but recent reports suggest a bid for the French midfielder have been rejected by the Saints.

SkyBet suspended betting on the France international’s move to United after it was rumoured that he had agreed personal terms for a four-year deal with confirmation thought to be expected within this week.

However, recent reports from Sky Sources have suggested that Manchester United made their first bid on June 20th and that it was rejected as it “it did not meet Southampton’s valuation”. The Sky Sources further understand that there has been absolutely no contact between the two clubs about the player since 10 days ago.

Whilst, it certainly doesn’t mean that the deal is off, it does suggest that it may be prolonged for longer than initially accepted as United may be hesitant to pay the Saints’ £25m fee. It could also be linked with Bayern Munich’s Bastian Schweinsteiger as the club may only want one of the two players, thus are waiting for a concrete decision from the German international.

Regardless, it does seem pretty evident that Schneiderlin prefers a move to Manchester United than the previous favourites Arsenal and all signs still lead to the possibility that the French international will sign in the coming weeks.
