Jasper Cillessen is one of many goalkeepers being touted as a possible replacement for David De Gea. The Dutch international has admitted to being aware of United’s interest but he hasn’t heard from his agent about a potential move, according to reports in the Daily Mail.
Cillessen is reportedly being considered as United look to replace De Gea, whose move to Real Madrid now appears imminent. The 26-year-old currently plays for Ajax and has strong connections with Louis van Gaal, having been the manager’s first choice goalkeeper at the 2014 World Cup.
Whilst Cillessen has acknowledged the reported interest from Old Trafford, he has also spoken of his happiness and willingness to remain at Ajax. “Of course, you hear some things about it through the media”, he said.
“But I keep myself away from it and I have not heard from my agents. I have it really good with Ajax. I am enjoying myself and I started training again with great pleasure.”
With De Gea expected to complete his transfer to Real Madrid sooner rather than later, United will be considering their options on who will replace the Spaniard. Hugo Lloris and Asmir Begovic are reportedly targets and Victor Valdes is already on the books.
