Nicolas Otamendi’s Valencia exit nearing?

Nicolas Otamendi’s agent is confident about convincing Valencia’s new Club President, to let his client leave for a cut-price. This comes after former President Amadeo Salvo resigned, who previously stated that Otamendi would only be allowed to leave if a club met the £35.5 million release clause within the Argentine’s contract.

After prolonging his decision on his future, so he was able to focus on the Copa America, Otamendi’s preferred choice seems to be Manchester United. According to Spanish newspaper AS Diario, the centre-back’s agent Eugenio Lopez believes there are no obstacles to a deal away from Valencia and wants negotiations to happen as soon as possible.

Otamendi’s possible transfer to Old Trafford would see him link up with fellow countrymen Angel Di Maria and Marcos Rojo, who could form a partnership at the heart defence.

The 27-year-old played in 35 of Valencia’s 38 La Liga games last season and also scored 6 goals. According to WhoScored.com; his tackling, blocking, ball interception and aerial duals, despite only being 6ft tall, are all considered to be his strengths. He was previously out of favour when it came to international duty, as former Argentina manager Alejandro Sabella left Otamendi out of the 2014 World Cup squad. Despite losing out to Chile in the Copa America Final, Otamendi was named in the team of the tournament after displaying impressive performances.
