Bastian Schweinsteiger ‘flattered’ by United’s admiring attentions

The latest player to emerge as one of Manchester United’s many targets, Bastian Schweinsteiger, has very much mirrored German teammate, Mats Hummels’ thoughts on the matter of being linked with the club.

Karl-Heinz-Rummenigge, Borussia Dortmunds’ chairman, has revealed he was not going to ‘hide’ that the 30-year-old is ‘flattered’ by the fondness of the player shown by the Red Devils. His current club, Bayern Munich, will have to fend these off in order to keep their cornerstone who’s spearheaded eight table-topping campaigns and the seven silverware to his name from the domestic cup in the Bundesliga. It is no surprise, therefore, that he has caught Louis van Gaal’s eye.

Although reports suggest for the right price, Bayern are open to listen to offers around the £10million mark that they value their veteran.

Pep Guardiola has urged the midfield man to consider his options and make his mind up as to where his future lies as he only has one year remaining on his current contract with the reigning champions of the German top flight after surpassing decade of service at the Allianz Arena.

Their Premier League counterparts have tested the water with a bid that would see Schweinsteiger tied down at the Theatre of Dreams for two terms that would provide some security given the player-in-questions age. However despite his years perhaps taking the shine off of him as often is the case for some fans, this gives him an upper hand as the Manchester outfit are now crying out for a hardened and experienced individual. And when you’ve won the World Cup, they don’t come more experienced than that!
