According to David McDonnell of the Mirror, PSG are not backing down in their chase of the Argentine and Manchester United number 7, Angel Di Maria.
PSG boss Laurent Blanc has confirmed his interest in the British transfer record holder. The Ligue 1 title winners believe that a £45 million bid should be enough to prise Di Maria out of Manchester, although they do admit that interest form other clubs will make a transfer difficult.
Blanc has been quoted as saying “We have more freedom, but it remains a difficult project for us because we’re not alone in wanting him. When you see the financial power of the English clubs, they are attacking everyone. Competition is very, very tough. Don’t forget, Manchester United paid a fortune to sign him.”
It would be an unlikely move for United to let him go after his transfer was so highly publicized and used as a way of proving that United are still capable of competing with the biggest and richest clubs in the world. However with his performances declining throughout the past season United may feel that the time is right to cash in on the winger, especially now with recent signings proving beyond doubt that the Red Devils are still a force to be reckoned with in the transfer market.
The transfer could also be sanctioned simply as a way of balancing the books for Ed Woodward and his team. With around £200 million being spent over the last 2 season, with no substantial income from transfers, United could be forced to sell him as a way of ensuring they don’t end up either in larger debts or in a breach of financial fair play.
Either way this is a transfer saga that is unlikely to be carried out quickly and will most likely rumble on throughout the whole transfer window.
