Louis van Gaal has dropped a massive hint that Mexican foward Javier Hernandez is still in his plans for next season, despite speculation linking him away from the club.
‘Chicharito’ spent last season on loan at La Liga giants Real Madrid, and scored some important goals in the 33 appearances he made, including a last minute winner against fierce rivals Atletico in last years Champions League Quarter final.
And with Robin van Persie joining Turkish outfit Fenerbahce and Radamel Falcao not continuing his loan spell at Old Trafford, instead heading to Chelsea, it now seems as if the returning 27-year-old will have more of a role to play at United.
Speaking on his striking options during an interview whilst on his club’s pre-season tour, van Gaal also suggested that there may be another foward on his way to United:
We have Rooney, he can play in strikers’ position, and all media had written he should play there so I listen and now you put this question so don’t know what you want.
‘Also Chicharito and maybe Wilson and maybe there comes a surprise.
‘It’s a process. I’m not worried about that position.’
Hernandez suffered a shoulder injury earlier this month while playing for Mexico, however he will rejoin his team-mates next week.
