New deal for promising youngster

One of Manchester United’s hottest prospects has committed his future to the club.

16-year old Callum Gribbin has signed a new four-year contract with the Reds, according to Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News.

The highly-rated youngster was chased by Liverpool earlier this year, after Gribbin had reportedly fallen out with coaching staff at United, but he has decided to stay at Old Trafford, with his terms being a one-year scholarship before moving on to a three-year professional deal.

Gribbin expressed his happiness at signing a new deal by tweeting: “Happy to sign a 4 year deal. Good things take time, now time to focus on the season ahead! Blessed.”

Similar in style and stature to Lionel Messi, as well as being left-footed, Gribbin can play anywhere across the front three and has really caught the eye of many United fans. His tender age did not stop him from being a vital cog in the U18 side last season, and he even impressed on the right wing during the U21’s final game of the season against Manchester City as a substitute.

Louis van Gaal has also been impressed by Gribbin’s development, so much so that he brought him in to train with the first team before they embarked on the pre-season tour of the United States. Gribbin wasn’t picked to join the first teamers on tour, but it is clear that the manager sees a potential star in the making. Watch this space.
