David De Gea – 6; Not all too much to do bar the two goals that PSG scored, neither of which he could have done much about. Not at his sharpest as he almost put Ibrahimovic in early on but an okay performance from the Spaniard.
Matteo Darmian – 8; One of United’s best players on this tour, Darmian showed again why the club brought him in this summer as he bailed out the centre backs on more than one occasion and made a few surging runs forward to support the attack.
Phil Jones – 5; Didn’t manage to do anything to influence the game positively but did plenty at the other end of the scale – lapses in concentration from him arguably causing both PSG goals in the first half
Daley Blind – 7; Not as shaky as his defensive partner but not a world-beating centre back, Blind was fairly solid and passed the ball well as we’d expect from him
Luke Shaw – 8; Much like Darmian, Shaw has excelled on this tour and made the left-back spot his own. Worked well on the overlap yet again and was sound defensively – there wasn’t much he could do about the first goal
Michael Carrick – 7; Playing with two midfield partners in the game, he was comfortable in both halves next to one of the new signings in each period. Passed the ball well and made a few important tackles
Bastian Schweinsteiger – 7; The German international only played the first half, in a bid to boost his fitness ahead of the opening weekend of the Premier League. A sloppy start was well recovered as he found his rhythm and was picking players out with all sorts of passes
Juan Mata – 7; His least impressive tour performance but still one of the fundamental cogs in United’s forward movement, his passing and vision were great, but he couldn’t find the breakthrough despite all his efforts.
Memphis Depay – 6; Certainly not his finest game, he just couldn’t get the final product quite right against PSG. He grew visibly more and more frustrated with himself but still worked tirelessly off the ball
Ashley Young – 6; Another player who has posted better shifts in the other pre-season games, Young didn’t offer too much this time around and was out-shone down the wing by Luke Shaw, who supported him incredibly well.
Wayne Rooney – 7; Tried hard to get United back into the game but again was isolated by Louis van Gaal’s new system. Something needs to change in there if Wayne is to score 25 goals this season.
Substitutes
Sam Johnstone – 9; Playing all of the second half, Johnstone was immaculate, dealing with absolutely everything which came his way with absolute confidence. A great tour from the young man.
Morgan Schneiderlin – 8; Another player who had a bright 45 minute run-out, Schneiderlin was comfortable in pinging balls around everywhere, 1 yard pass or 41 yards, it phased him not. Surely knocking on the door for a starting spot against Spurs.
Andreas Pereira – 8; What a name he has made for himself this summer. Another confident, assured display as he brought some life to United’s attacks in the second half. Expect to see him feature in the Premier League a fair but this season.
Valencia, Smalling, Lingard and Goss all made cameos but did not play enough minutes to receive a rating. The 10 minutes played by Goss was his United debut and he did a fairly good job of it.
Average Rating vs PSG = 7.3
