Pedro Asks to Leave Barcelona

The transfer of Pedro between Manchester United and Barcelona seems to be coming ever closer after a Barcelona official said that the player has asked for a transfer, Goal.com reports.

Barcelona’s Technical Secretary Robert Fernandez has confirmed that Pedro has asked for a transfer away from the Camp Nou. But Fernandez stated that he will not leave unless a club activates his buyout clause.

“Pedro asked us for the transfer, we are not going to accept less than €30 million for him, it’s not negotiable.”

The 28-year-old was not selected in the starting XI for the Super Cup against Sevilla, with Rafinha replacing the absent Neymar which has led to further speculation that he is on his way out of the club he has been at since the age of 17. However, he did come off of the bench to score the winning goal in Barcelona’s dramatic 5-4 victory.

Despite being used primarily as a rotation option for Barcelona, Pedro has helped the club to win five La Liga and three Champions League titles. In the 2009/10 season, he scored in all six club competitions and became the first player in history to do so.

Pedro can play with both feet and is a very versatile player as he can play on both wings or even behind the striker, which is what Louis Van Gaal likes his players to be able to do and will be a big hit at Old Trafford if/when he joins.
