Anders Lindegaard has officially joined Tony Pulis’ West Bromwich Albion on a permanent transfer from Manchester United.
The Baggies confirmed the deal for the Danish international on their Twitter account, with a brief statement also appearing on their club website.
Lindegaard has been hard-pressed for game time for a long time now, with Sergio Romero preferred to him all season so far and Sam Johnstone impressing in pre-season just last month.
The 31-year-old Denmark goalkeeper has not made a competitive appearance for United since the 2013-14 season when he played one game. His last run of games came in 2012-13 as David de Gea was dropped for a period by Sir Alex Ferguson after some nervy games and silly mistakes. There was a time when the two goalkeepers were in tight competition for a place in the starting eleven during that period and Lindegaard impressed.
Despite having been at Old Trafford since 2010, Lindegaard has only played a handful of times for the club; managing just 19 league games, all but one of which came under the now retired Sir Alex Ferguson.
He’ll need a decent run of games to get back to his best but he’ll be an excellent signing for West Brom, bringing experience into a position where it is needed, with Ben Foster injured until at least October.
