Manchester United have confirmed the transfer on 19-year-old French striker Anthony Martial on a 5-year deal from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco.
The fee is in the region of €60 million (£43.6 million) and will see the striker stay at Old Trafford until June 2020. It comes just 24 hours before the transfer window slams shut for Premier League clubs; United have left it late once again.
Martial has scored three goals in 8 appearances so far this season and has just been rewarded with a place in France’s squad for the upcoming international break; which he was released from by the FFF in order to seal his switch to Old Trafford.
His signing comes at a desperate time for United, who have scored just three goals in four Premier League games, one of which was an own goal, and already sit 5 points adrift of Manchester City who are the only team to have won all of their games so far.
Martial will have been enticed by Champions League football, having been part of the Monaco side who were unable to make it through their play-off and now face a season in the Europa League.
