Manchester United secured a 2-0 victory over ten-man West Brom at Old Trafford this afternoon and moved to within a point of the top of the Premier League.
Jesse Lingard notched his first senior United goal just after the break with a brilliant curling effort from just outside the penalty area, and Juan Mata finished off the Baggies’ resistance with a coolly taken penalty in the dying moments of the game after Anthony Martial was brought down by Gareth McAuley. The Northern Irishman was sent off for the last-man challenge on the Frenchman, and Mata stepped up to finish the job.
