Manchester United fans are planning a tribute to mark the ten-year anniversary of George Best’s death later this month.
The Northern Irish legend, who formed one part of the famous Holy Trinity alongside Denis Law and Bobby Charlton, passed away on November 25, 2005, after a long battle with alcoholism.
And with the anniversary falling on United’s Champions League tie against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League at Old Trafford, fan group Stretford End Flags will be producing a commemorative banner and are asking supporters to turn on their mobile phone torches in the seventh minute of the clash against the Dutch side to honour their former winger, who wore the seven shirt in his heyday.

A statement on their website read:
The 25th of November marks the ten-year anniversary of the passing of George Best, one of Manchester United’s greatest ever players. George was a shining example of the trust in youth that Sir Matt Busby has instilled on the club and his genius lit up football stadia whenever he played.
On the 25th of November, Manchester United are at home to PSV in the Champions League. SEF, along with supporters will be paying tribute to George. Just as George lit up Old Trafford through his dazzling football, we are calling on all supporters to light up Old Trafford. As the clock ticks onto the seventh minute, we are asking supporters to turn on their mobile phone torches and light up Old Trafford.
The SEF are seeking out designs for the banner, but the banner will include the words ‘There Is A Light That Will Never Go Out’, the 1986 classic sung by Manchester band The Smiths.
