Manchester United’s flourishing forward, Jesse Lingard, has been rewarded for his marvelous displays at club level with Roy Hodgson today adding him to the England squad to face France on Tuesday.
Following a few injuries in the squad, one of which included United midfielder Michael Carrick, it was just the reason Roy Hodgson needed to call up the youngster, having worked him before in the U21s team back in 2013.
In his last two starts for Manchester United, Lingard has created two chances, netting one goal, providing one assist and has a pass completion of 88 percent.

Despite his pivotal attacking performances this season in a United jumper, Louis van Gaal will most likely be unimpressed to hear of his call up to the England squad. “I would say it is too much too early”, claimed Van Gaal after Manchester United defeated West Brom 2-0, the game in which Lingard opened the scoring. van Gaal went on further explaining that “we have to wait to see if he is consistent in his form.”
Despite this, Hodgson no doubt knows Jesse well and he will leave on Sunday to spend time with the senior squad ahead of the match against France on Tuesday.
