Herrera insists he is happy at United

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has taken to social media to put to bed the rumours that he is disenchanted with life at Old Trafford.

The Basque star, 26, reportedly wanted to meet with Louis van Gaal to discuss his future with the Red Devils (Daily Star). However, he has revealed on Twitter that this is nonsense.

He is currently injured but had been playing a big role for the side, in behind Wayne Rooney as the ‘number 10′. His influence on United’s performances towards the end of the 2014-15 season was almost unrivalled.

He scored six Premier League goals with 7 shots on target. This season, he has already recorded two goals and two assists in the top flight, with a further two goals scored in the Red Devils’ three FA Cup games.

Signed from Athletic Club in 2014, his transfer was a huge coup as he had long been a target for United, but was always going to be difficult to get away from the Basque region due to Athletic’s strict transfer policy – they only want Basques playing for the team, so losing a star like Herrera means losing quality in the squad as it’s not as simple as just using the money to buy someone else from elsewhere.
