Fellaini’s attitude praised

Marouane Fellaini’s attitude has been praised by Manchester United Under-21 manager Warren Joyce.

Fellaini played the full 90 minutes as the Under-21s beat their Liverpool counterparts 3-2 in a dramatic match and the Belgian had a hand in all three United goals, scoring the first after heading in Andreas Pereira’s cross and assisting the other two.

And the 28-year-old’s professionalism was praised by Joyce after the match, as the midfielder aimed to work on his match fitness ahead of United’s busy schedule in December.

Speaking to MUTV, Joyce said:

I thought his attitude was first class. I obviously know him from being around the building [the AON Training Complex] and having discussions with him.

I met him actually in Belgium a long time ago when he was at Standard Liege and I was with Royal Antwerp. So I’ve known him a long time really and watched his progress.

When we were out there, we played Standard Liege in the semi-final of the Belgian Cup when Darron Gibson, Fraizer Campbell, Jonny Evans and Ryan Shawcross were on loan at Antwerp. So I’ve followed his path even before he came to Manchester United and before he came to England [with Everton].

I have always thought he was a good professional and he demonstrated that on Monday night.

Fellaini has featured 14 times for Louis van Gaal’s side this season, although most of those appearances have come off the substitute’s bench.

Backup goalkeeper Sergio Romero was the other first-team player to feature alongside Pereira and Fellaini against Liverpool’s second-string on Monday.
