Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has suggested that it would not be fair on Louis van Gaal for the Dutchman to be sacked as manager of the club.
Speaking to Spanish newspaper Marca (via Sport Witness), the Spanish midfielder spoke of the more lenient attitude within the Premier League, when it comes to the dismissal of managers. In Spain, a string of poor results almost always ends with the immediate removal of a manager from his post, but Herrera has realised that the allowances made are very different in England:
“The prism is different than in Spain. Here it’s more patient, but not only with Van Gaal. With [Jose] Mourinho, three points from relegation, they didn’t throw him out. “[Arsene] Wenger has been nine years without titles and continued there. [Manchester] City takes three weeks without a win and no doubts about [Manuel] Pellegrini. So back to Van Gaal, I think so, it would be unfair because the line of work in England is to give confidence.”

Mourinho, of course, was sacked eventually and Manuel Pellegrini is to be replaced by Josep Guardiola at the end of the current season – but Arsene Wenger will almost certainly still be in his place at the start of 2016-17 and Louis van Gaal’s poor December as United manager didn’t see him dismissed.
