Four things we learned: Man United 1-0 Everton

Manchester United moved into fifth place in the Premier League after a 1-0 win over Everton on Sunday afternoon.

Anthony Martial’s goal early in the second half proved enough to earn United the three points in a tight encounter, meaning the Reds are now just one point behind fourth placed Manchester City.

After Old Trafford honoured Sir Bobby Charlton before kick-off, when the stadium’s South Stand was named after him. the match which followed proved to be a rather underwhelming one. Both sides struggled to create many meaningful chances.

Everton started the game much better than the home side, and pressed United’s defence intently whilst keeping possession well.

But the Reds eventually settled into the match and were much better in the second half, and it was just eight minutes after the break when Anthony Martial scored the winning goal.

United might not have been at their best in this match, but the contest still brought up plenty of talking points. Here’s four things we learned from the Reds’ win:
