Louis van Gaal has reportedly turned down an offer from the Dutch FA to become their technical director in order to remain as Manchester United manager.
According to Dutch paper Algemeen Dagblad, the 64-year-old has rejected an overture from his former employers to focus on retaining his job in Manchester beyond the current season.
Van Gaal has been the subject of fierce scrutiny in recent months, with many believing that the Dutchman will be leaving the club in the summer due to an underwhelming campaign, to be replaced by José Mourinho in the Old Trafford hot seat.

However, the paper reports that Van Gaal is still hopeful of keeping his job in Manchester beyond the current season, with a top-four place in the Premier League and the FA Cup still up for grabs.
And as a result, he has let the Dutch FA know that he has no interest in taking up the newly created role. Van Gaal has had two stints in charge of the Netherlands in the past, most notably leading the Oranje to third place in the World Cup in 2014.
In the meantime, Van Gaal has his focus on United’s Premier League clash against Tottenham on Sunday. The Reds are currently in fifth position in the Premier League, one point off rivals Manchester City ahead of this weekend’s fixtures.
