Report: Manchester United U18’s 7-1 Newcastle U18’s

Manchester United recorded their biggest win of the season, with a 7-1 thrashing against Newcastle’s under-18s.

It was a quick start for the Reds, Angel Gomes opened the scoring inside the first three minutes, Indy Boonen provided the assist.

The Magpies reacted well, and looked like scoring on a few occasions, Daniel Lowther came closest when his shot struck the post.

Boonen got his first goal of the day on the 35th minute, but celebrations were short lived when Callum Smith pulled one back for the Geordie side four minutes later.

The first half ended with the two sides split by just one goal, and it looked set to be a close game.

However, Tommy Martin’s youngsters really got going in the second half, and Zachary Dearnley added his name to the scoresheet just before the hour mark following good attacking pressure from the Reds.

Newcastle then began to fall apart as Boonen managed his second goal in the 72nd minute, before Tosin Kehinde made it 5-1 with ten minutes to go.

Boonen completed his hat-trick two minutes later, the Belgian has impressed since arriving from Genk as a 16-year-old.

Tyler Reid completed the scoring in the final few minutes, and Martin’s youngsters proved once more that Louis van Gaal may have to look no further than his academy to bolster his first team squad.
