Four Things We Learned: Tottenham 3-0 Man United

Shocking. Dreadful. Appalling. Just some of the words to describe Manchester United’s performance against Tottenham today, as they capitulated to a three-goal defeat at White Hart Lane.

Kick-off was delayed half an hour due to the United team bus getting stuck in London traffic, but Louis van Gaal’s men might as well stayed on the bus because Spurs put the United defence to the sword with three goals in five minutes and 46 seconds in the second half.

The sides went in level at half-time and it seemed it would be a tight contest, but once Timothy Fosu-Mensah went off with an injury, the floodgates opened. Dele Alli, Toby Alderweireld and Erik Lamela were the scorers as United’s top-four hopes took a massive dent.

United now sit four points behind Manchester City in fifth and Van Gaal’s hopes of keeping his job now sit on a knife-edge. Here’s four things we learned from a shambles of a performance in North London:
