Morgan Schneiderlin’s turbulent first season at Manchester United has taken another turn for the worse after the midfielder was a notable omission from France’s Euro 2016 squad announcement.
Since joining from Southampton for a fee reported to be £27million last summer the Frenchman has struggled to impress his current manager Louis Van Gaal and despite starting on 33 occasions for United this season, has often been overlooked in big matches by the Dutchman.
And his failure to secure a place in the starting team has seemingly cost 26-year-old his place on the plane to Euro 2016 with French coach Didier Deschamps instead opting for breakthrough Leicester City star N’Golo Kante (MEN).
Prior to the European Championships host’s squad announcement Schneiderlin had been a regular fixture in the side and appeared in all five of France’s final matches in 2015, however, missed out on the side’s friendlies against the Netherlands and Russia in March.

Instead, the midfielder finds himself on the standby list as Deschamps instead opted for the likes of Crystal Palace’s Yohan Cabaye, Newcastle’s Moussa Sissoko and Marseille’s Lassana Diarra.
Schneiderlin had initially started the match against West Ham United in the final match at the Boleyn Ground on Tuesday night but was substituted at half-time with the side trailing.
The former Southampton star also admitted to L’Equipe earlier this week that he was not entirely happy with his first season at Old Trafford but is hoping to return stronger for the next season.
