Louis van Gaal’s £250m signings: Rated

Every man and his dog surely now knows that Louis van Gaal has been relieved of his duties as manager of Manchester United.

When the Dutchman took the reigns at Old Trafford, following the 2014 World Cup, there was much excitement surrounding his appointment; he had just guided his country to the semi-finals of said tournament, with United striker Robin van Persie as talisman.

Then came the transfers – Daley Blind, another star of the World Cup, joined Van Gaal at United, as did Angel di Maria, Radamel Falcao (on loan) and a few others.

Fast forward a year, to the following summer window and Di Maria and Falcao would leave the club, along with Robin van Persie and Javier Hernandez, again, amongst others.

With such attacking prowess released, Louis needed to invest again – and along came Anthony Martial.

Having spent over £250 million, Louis van Gaal made 13 permanent signings for the Red Devils. Have a look at how we rate them…
