Manchester United will face Wigan Athletic on Saturday afternoon in their first friendly match of pre-season.
The Reds started training ahead of the new season earlier this week where new signings Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan were both involved.
Fellow new arrival Zlatan Ibrahimovic was not present as he, along with 12 other United players, is still on holiday after featuring at Euro 2016.
However, new boss Jose Mourinho still has plenty of players to choose from for the upcoming matches, with the Portuguese having already promised to give some young players a chance against the Latics on Saturday.
The match against Wigan could also provide a great opportunity for forgotten men like Adnan Januzaj and Andreas Pereira to impress their new boss, especially considering that English trio Wayne Rooney, Chris Smalling and Marcus Rashford will have joined up with the squad by the time of the team’s next match.
Mourinho will be preparing to face Wigan first, though, as he becomes the Reds’ fourth different man in charge for pre-season in the last five years. With that in mind, let’s take a look at how the Reds have fared on tour in the last five seasons.
