Manchester United got life under new manager Jose Mourinho off to an excellent start on Saturday afternoon when they cam up against Gary Caldwell’s Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium.
Mourinho handed debuts to Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, as well as giving Luke Shaw his first start since the horror-injury which saw him miss out on most of the 2015-16, as well as the European Championships, where England could have done with his bursts of pace and the quality of his wide play.
James Wilson and Will Keane were also involved, as was young Congolese centre-back Axel Tuanzebe and under-21 goalkeeper Joel Castro Pereira.
It was a solid display and a game in which United were on top for the majority, but how did the players do on an individual basis?
Here are our player ratings from a sunny afternoon in Wigan, unfortunately without photos from the game itself!
