Bayern Munich could take back Schweinsteiger

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said to Bild that they will discuss the return of Bastian Schweinsteiger if he wishes to move from Manchester United.

The 32-year-old midfielder has reportedly been sent to train with the United reserve squad by Jose Mourinho, who doesn’t see the German in his future plans at Old Trafford. The news came on his birthday yesterday, which has made many people unhappy.

Rummenigge has said to Bild that they will keep the door open for Schweinsteiger if he wants to move:

Should he [Schweinsteiger] speak in the future at some point about a desire to return, then we will discuss it with him.

Schweinsteiger spent all of his professional career at Bayern Munich before moving to United. He made 500 appearances, won the Bundesliga eight times, and was part of the squad that won the Champions League in the 2012/13 season. He also won the World Cup with Germany two years ago.

Philipp Lahm, his teammate at Bayern Munich, has also commented on the situation:

It is important to involve players. A man like he was predestined to work in the team, he knows everything and everyone.

The midfielder has been linked to Schalke, AC Milan and Inter Milan in recent days. Whatever the case, his career at United looks to be over.
