It brings to an end what has been a mixed pre-season for the Reds. After a comfortable 2-0 win against Wigan to kick-off proceedings, United endured what turned out to be a farcical tour of China in mid-July, firstly losing heavily to Borussia Dortmund in Shanghai before the marquee match of the tour – a Manchester Derby against Pep Guardiola’s City – was cancelled due to poor weather.
