Paul Pogba is officially back at Manchester United, having made his transfer from Juventus official in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
However, whilst there’s little doubt about the Frenchman’s extreme talent, the player’s sizeable transfer fee has left some remaining unconvinced.
The £89 million fee has certainly divided opinion, with former Reds like Phil Neville applauding the transfer whilst Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness was amongst those who questioned the fee.
The opinion amongst football fans in a broader sense seems to have been equally divisive. The fact that Pogba is merely a midfielder, and therefore won’t be aiding United’s cause with tonnes of goals and assists in the same way an expensive new striker would, has also impacted fans’ perception of the 23-year-old’s value.
