Manchester United got their 2016-17 Premier League campaign off to a brilliant start on Sunday afternoon, playing their way straight to the top of the Premier League with a 3-1 victory away to Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth.
A double-error from Simon Francis gifted Juan Mata the opening goal, before Wayne Rooney nodded in from close range to make it two and Zlatan drilled in from distance for a three-goal lead. Smith pulled a goal back for Bournemouth but it was too little, too late as Mourinho’s men closed out the victory with relative ease.
Jose’s starting eleven raised a few eyebrows as Marouane Fellaini and Juan Mata started ahead of Morgan Schneiderlin and Henrikh Mkhitaryan – but the Belgian and Spaniard both had good games, justifying their manager’s faith in them.
So how did the players get on on an individual basis? They kept together Mourinho’s record of never having lost on the opening weekend – so here are our player ratings…
