Manchester United will face League One side Northampton Town in the EFL Cup third round.
José Mourinho’s side will travel away to Sixfields to face the Cobblers, who dumped Premier League side West Brom out on penalties, on the 20/21 September for a place in the fourth round of what used to be called the Capital One Cup.
The last time both sides faced off was in an FA Cup tie back in 2004 – on that occasion, goals from Mikael Silvestre, Chris Hargreaves (own-goal) and Diego Forlan booked a place in the fifth round of the cup.

Older United fans will also have fond memories of Northampton – with George Best having once scored six goals against the Cobblers in an FA Cup tie back in 1970, as the Reds won 8-2 at the County Ground.
At this stage last season, United comfortably beat Championship side Ipswich Town 3-0, with goals from Wayne Rooney, Andreas Pereira and Anthony Martial sealing a comfortable victory at Old Trafford.
However, the Reds will be hoping that they can go further in this competition than last season when they exited in the fourth round after losing at home to recently-promoted Middlesbrough on penalties.
Other standout ties that were drawn for the third round include Premier League champions Leicester City hosting Chelsea and West Ham welcoming League Two side Accrington Stanley to the Olympic Stadium.
