Jose Mourinho’s United side are in the Europa League (formerly the UEFA Cup) group stage draw for the first time ever.
Their very high European coefficient means that they are in Pot 1 for the draw, alongside the likes of Schalke, Athletic Club and Internazionale.
Whilst Europa League regulars such as Sevilla, Tottenham Hotspur and Celtic are all in the Champions League this season, European football’s second club competition will still be a tricky one for Mourinho’s United to navigate – although world-class talent in the shape of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and David de Gea will certainly give them an advantage.
