Fellaini suffers injury during Hull win

Manchester United manager José Mourinho has revealed that midfielder Marouane Fellaini picked up a back injury during the Reds’ 1-0 victory at Hull City on Saturday evening.

Marcus Rashford’s injury-time winner helped United continue their perfect start to the Premier League season, but it has come at a cost. Despite playing the full match and putting in another solid display alongside Paul Pogba in the centre of midfield, the United manager said that the Belgian picked up a problem during the encounter.

Speaking in the post-match press conference, he said:

He has an injury in his back. It’s not good. I think I’m going to lose Fellaini for a while.

Fellaini is due to meet up with Belgium for their upcoming internationals against Spain and Cyprus and will be assessed by their medical staff to see if the injury is a serious one.

The 28-year-old has started all three Premier League matches for United this season and has surprised many fans with the level of his performance in the middle of the park, with Mourinho clearly a fan of the Belgian international.

And he will certainly be in the good graces of one United fan, after saving her from a potential crush during the Reds’ wild celebrations after Rashford’s late, late goal:
