United’s record in the UEFA Cup/Europa League

United’s record in the UEFA Cup/Europa League

Manchester United play Dutch side Feyenoord in the Europa League on Thursday night – coming into the game off the back of a defeat in the most recent Manchester derby.

United’s group for Europe’s second-tier elite competition features the Dutch side, Robin van Persie’s Fenerbahce and Ukrainian side Zorya Luhansk.

What is interesting is that this will be United’s first ever entry to the competition at the group stages.

Last season, United played in the round of 32 and the round of 16 after a poor exit from the Champions League – and lost to Liverpool, who went on to reach the final of the competition.

Marcus Rashford made his senior debut for the club in that round of 32 stage last season, though – so some good has already come from the competition in the eyes of United!

So what is United’s record like overall in the competition, both in its new format and when it was the old UEFA Cup?

We’ve taken a look.
