It was a horrific return to Stamford Bridge for José Mourinho, as his Manchester United side crumbled to an embarrassing defeat against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.
The former Blues boss received a warm reception from the home crowd prior to kick-off – but that was about the only thing he would have been happy with, as his United side proceeded to fall apart within 30 seconds of the opening whistle.
Pedro took advantage of a defensive mix-up to round David de Gea and score Chelsea’s opener, before Gary Cahill smashed home a second after a corner came off Ander Herrera. Eden Hazard added a third in the second half, finishing low past De Gea before N’Golo Kante put the finishing touches on an impressive performance by coolly slotting home after a tricky solo run.
This defeat is certainly the worst moment of Mourinho’s spell with United so far, even more so as the Portuguese manager was humiliated by his former club. Certain players did not show up and it was a performance that bordered on the abysmal.
