Player Ratings: Everton 1-1 Manchester United

The same old story repeated itself once again at Goodison Park, as Manchester United took the lead only to let it slip once again in the dying embers as Everton snatched a point at the death.

Leighton Baines’ penalty with a minute left secured a point for the Toffees after late substitute Marouane Fellaini’s silly challenge on Idrissa Gueye inside the penalty. The result makes it three straight draws on the trot for José Mourinho’s side, as their inability to sit back and hold on to a lead cost them once again.

In what was a really scrappy first half, Zlatan Ibrahimovic had given United the lead with an audacious lob over an onrushing Maarten Stekelenburg. The ball hit the underside of the crossbar and came back off the post before spinning in, with Ramiro Funes Mori unable to clear the ball off the line in time.

After the break, Kevin Mirallas had an effort brilliantly saved by David de Gea before Ander Herrera hit the post with a left-footed volley just past the hour mark. United then proceeded to sit back and attempt to absorb pressure and they were made to pay for it in the end.
